Infantry Soldiers conduct pre-mobilization training

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, also known as the Red Dragons, conduct pre-mobilization training March 19-20, 2016, at Fort Pickett, Virginia, in preparation for federal active duty. Training included Army Warrior Task lanes, weapons qualification, combatives and Humvee rollover. The Red Dragons are scheduled to begin serving on federal active duty in May and will train in Texas for about 30 to 45 days before heading overseas. They will replace the Virginia National Guard’s Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, also known as Task Force Normandy, currently conducting security operations in Qatar.
