229th BEB engineers conduct demolitions training
Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Fredericksburg-based 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team practice preparing, charging and detonating explosives during their drill weekend April 5, 2019, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. The engineers used 40-pound charges to blast craters into the ground and tied C4 explosives together using detonation cord during the exercise. The 229th also trained select Soldiers from the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion and Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team in basic demolition techniques.
