Virginia National Guard armory in Richmond closed in official ceremony

Virginia Army National Guard Soldiers lower the United States flag and Virginia flag in front of the armory in Richmond for the final time during a closing ceremony for the facility held Dec. 6. The decision to close the Richmond armory was part of Gov. Tim Kaine's 2010 budget reduction plan, and about 375 Soldiers currently stationed at the Richmond facility will be relocated to Virginia Guard readiness centers in Sandston, Emporia, Petersburg and Virginia Beach.
