Top Virginia National Guard units, individuals recognized at Virginia Military Ball

Maj. Scott A. Nivens, the executive officer of the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, and Command Sgt. Maj. Irving N. Reed, Jr., the battalion command sergeant major, accept the Eisenhower Trophy on behalf of the Soldiers of the Lexington-based Bravo Company, 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment April 28, 2018, in Norfolk, Virginia, at the second annual Virginia Military Ball. The Eisenhower Trophy recognizes the most outstanding company-level unit in the Virginia Army National Guard during the training year and is presented to the unit that ranks the highest in areas of assigned personnel strength, percentage of personnel qualified in their duty position, attendance at monthly drill weekends and annual training, individual weapons qualification scores and physical fitness test scores. Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, Brig. Gen. Walter Mercer, Assistant Adjutant General - Army, and Command Sgt. Maj.
