Historical display celebrates VDF history

A historical display at the Virginia National Guard Sergeant Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia, celebrates the history of the Virginia Defense Force. With roots dating back to World War I, the modern Virginia Defense Force was formally reestablished April 18, 1984, and Virginia General Assembly Joint Resolution 864 commends the VDF on its 35th anniversary. Read more the resolution at go.usa.gov/xmjp3. Lt. Col. (Va.) M. Kent Brinkley, VDF command historian, recently brief Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 Al Barnes, the VNG command historian, on the display, and Williams presented Brinkley with a challenge coin in recognition of his efforts to share VDF history.
