Jelderks and Oakes are assigned to the Virginia National Guard's Norfolk-based 1st Battalion, 111th Field Artillery Regiment, which is preparing for a possible state mobilization in response to Hurricane Earl. The Virginia National Guard will bring up to 200 Soldiers and Airmen on state active duty starting Sept. 1 for possible post-storm recovery operations should Hurricane Earl impact the Hampton Roads area.
