Virginia Guard Soldiers prepare for possible post-storm recovery operations from Hurricane Earl

Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard's Norfolk-based 1st Battalion, 111th Field Artillery Regiment prepare their vehicles for a possible state mobilization in response to Hurricane Earl Sept. 2, 2010. The Virginia National Guard was authorized to bring up to 200 Soldiers and Airmen on state active duty starting Sept. 1 for possible post-storm recovery operations should Hurricane Earl impact the Hampton Roads area. Virginia Guard personnel began staging Wednesday evening and were ready Thursday morning to support potential response missions before Hurricane Earl reaches the Virginia coastline.
