Virginia Military Institute parade honors 29th Infantry Division and 116th Infantry Regiment
The Virginia Military Institute’s parade conducted Sept. 17 in Lexington honored the Virginia, Maryland and Washington D.C. National Guard Soldiers of the 29th Infantry Division, 116th Infantry Regiment and all the Virginia communities represented in the June 6, 1944 D-Day Invasion at Normandy, France. Marching in the parade were 16 members of the VMI Corps of Cadets who are members of the 29th Infantry Division or 116th Infantry Regiment, and four of those Soldiers recently returned from combat deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan.
