VDF trains on incident management assistance capabilities

Members of the Virginia Defense Force conduct training on incident management assistance capabilities July 18, 2020, in Richmond, Virginia. VDF personnel volunteered their time to train on the employment of the Tactical Communications Package, or TacPak, and the WebEOC information sharing and requesting system used by the Virginia Department of Emergency Management. The TacPak is a portable system providing wireless internet access, cellular phone, satellite voice and data and video conferencing capabilities. VDF personnel use the TacPaks and WebEOC when augmenting Virginia National Guard units during response operations to assist with tracking vital information like operational updates, personnel status, logistics requirements and mission metrics. The Virginia Defense Force is authorized by the Code of the Virginia as the all-volunteer reserve of the Virginia National Guard and serves as a force multiplier integrated into all Guard domestic operations.
