VNG Soldiers conduct ruck march to honor D-Day
Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team conduct a memorial ruck march from the Bedford Armory to the National D-Day Memorial June 6, 2021, to honor the Soldiers from the 116th who served on D-Day. Lt. Col. Jim Tierney and Command Sgt. Maj. Doug Wolfe, the 1st Battalion command team, reflect on why the unit marched and what the D-Day Memorial means to them.
