The Virginia National Guard’s Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support Group Headquarters marks the start of their federal active duty mobilization with a departure ceremony Sept. 4, 2021, in Virginia Beach, Virginia. Col. Todd Pegg and Command Sgt. Maj. Jerome Shelton, the 329th RSG command team, furled their organizational colors during the ceremony signifying the official start of the mobilization, and they will unfurl the colors when they arrive in the Middle East and officially take responsibility for their mission serving as the base operating support-integrator for multiple installations. The Troutville-based 29th Infantry Division Band provided music for the ceremony, and members of the Virginia Defense Force volunteered their time to provide traffic management for attendees.
