MATES delivers Duck for display at VNG headquarters

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Maneuver Area Training Equipment Site at Fort Pickett, Virginia, transport and offload a historic DUKW, or Duck, onto a concrete display pad Nov. 17, 2021, at the VNG Sergeant Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. The World War II-era Duck, an amphibious modification of a 2.5-ton truck, joins other macro artifacts on permanent display outside of the headquarters building. The Duck was obtained by the VNG History Program and received refurbishing at MATES before transportation and display. A group of volunteers called the Friends of the Guard will finish preserving the historic vehicle. (U.S. National Guard photo by Mike Vrabel)
