34th CST conducts training proficiency evaluation

Virginia National Guard Soldiers and Airmen assigned to the Fort Pickett-based 34th Civil Support Team conduct their training proficiency evaluation Nov. 18, 2021, at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. During the second of two full-scale exercises, the team conducted reconnaissance and sample collection missions on a notional suspect’s labs while being evaluated by representatives from U.S. Army North. During the exercise, Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Brig. Gen. James Ring, the VNG Director of the Joint Staff, visited with the CST and observed their training. The 34th CST can identify unknown substances, assess current and projected consequences, advise an incident commander on response measures and assist with requests for additional state support.
