229th BEB, R&R Soldiers compete for Region II Best Warrior title
Staff Sgt. Austin Sturtz and Spc. Adam Marcus represent the Virginia Army National Guard during the Regional Best Warrior Competition May 19, 2022, at Camp Dawson, West Virginia. Sturtz, assigned to the Recruiting and Retention Battalion, and Marcus, assigned to the Fredericksburg-based 229th Brigade Engineer Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, were named the Virginia Army National Guard’s Noncommissioned Officer and Soldier of the Year at the state-level competition in April 2022.
