EIB, ESB candidates tackle weapon lanes testing

U.S. Army Soldiers begin testing on weapons tasks during Expert Infantryman and Expert Soldier Badge testing June 12, 2023, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia. During testing, Soldiers encountered 10 lanes with tasks requiring them to demonstrate proficiency with weapons including the M4 carbine, the M249 light machine gun, the Mark 19 40mm grenade machine gun, the Javelin shoulder-fired anti-tank missile and the M18 Claymore mine. More than 120 Soldiers started testing for their EIB/ESB on June 11, 2023, and 66 began testing on day two following completion of he Expert Physical Fitness Assessment and day and night land navigation. The testing brought together Soldiers from the Virginia and Kentucky Army National Guard; the Fort Meyer-based 3rd Infantry Regiment, known as the Old Guard; the Fort Liberty, North Carolina-based 112th Signal Battalion; and Finland.
