VNG Headquarters remembers 9/11 during ceremony

Maj. Gen. James W. Ring, the Adjutant General of Virginia, leads a 9/11 remembrance ceremony on the 22nd anniversary of the terrorist attacks Sept. 11, 2023, at the Virginia National Guard Sergeant Bob Slaughter Headquarters at Defense Supply Center Richmond, Virginia. During the ceremony, Lt. Col. Brett Johnson, the VNG full-time support chaplain, shared remarks and prayers focused on those who lost their lives, and led a moment of silence at 9:37 a.m., the moment American Airlines Flight 77 struck the Pentagon. Johnson also read aloud the names of Virginia National Guard Soldiers who have died in the Global War on Terror. Ceremony attendees gathered around a World Trade Center service elevator pulley on permanent display outside of the headquarters building. Read more about the pulley’s dedication at ngpa.us/25378.
