VaANG leaders visit Detachment 1, 192nd Medical Group FTX

Virginia Air National Guard senior leaders visit with Airmen assigned to the Richmond-based Detachment 1, 192nd Medical Group, 192nd Wing Nov. 3, 2023, at the start of a multi-day field training exercise. Col. Brock E. Lange and Chief Master Sgt. Sean J. Fretwell, the 192nd Wing command team, and Chief Master Sgt. Ian D. Stegherr, the Virginia Air National Guard State Command Chief, met with Airmen as they conducted their training exercise focused on providing life sustaining medical care during a mass casualty disaster response scenario. After mustering and loading up their gear, the Airmen convoyed to their training site where they set up the footprint with a medical tactical operations center and rehabilitation, treatment and departure tents. Medics then conducted patient search and extraction at the on-site rubble pile and evacuated simulated casualties to receive triage, treatment and transport. Detachment 1 is the medical element of the Virginia National Guard’s Richmond-based 34th Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear, and High-Yield Explosive Enhanced Response Force Package, or CERFP.
