Loy completes final UH-72 flight
Lt. Col. Aaron Loy competes his final flight on board a UH-72 Lakota helicopter July 13, 2024, at the 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute, at Fort Barfoot, Virginia. Loy, who began his military career in 1998, returned to a crowd of family, friends, colleagues and leaders who congratulated him on his retirement. Over the course of Loy’s 26 years of military service, he completed numerous deployments, and was instrumental in establishing the Virginia National Guard’s Helicopter Aquatic Rescue Team. He served in units including the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, the Virginia National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion, and the Fort Belvoir-based 91st Cyber Brigade, and most recently, at the 183rd RTI as the deputy commander.
