Virginia National Guard aviators lead a flyover rehearsal alongside flight crews from the Ohio and North Carolina National Guard in preparation for a rotary wing flyover Aug. 1, 2024, at the Army Aviation Support Facility near Richmond International Airport. The flyover, conducted on Aug. 2, was part of the change of responsibility ceremony for the Chief of the National Guard Bureau. It featured a UH-72 Lakota helicopter from the Virginia National Guard in the lead, followed by a Virginia UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter, a North Carolina AH-64 Apache helicopter, and an Ohio CH-47 Chinook helicopter.
