First Sgt. Jessica Dickenson is promoted to the rank of sergeant major Sept. 20, 2024, at a ceremony in Troutville, Virginia. Dickenson has served in various leadership positions within the Virginia Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion, including as a recruiter, section chief and company first sergeant. She most recently served as the battalion’s operations noncommissioned officer-in-charge, and is now the battalion’s newly-appointed command sergeant major. Lt. Col.
