1ROTC Raider Pentathlon runs rehearsal at Hopewell High

Lt. Col. Eric Palicia, Virginia State University’s Professor of Military Science, joins Lt. Col. Jeremiah Pray, Hopewell High School’s JROTC Instructor, for a rehearsal of the 1ROTC Raider Pentathlon Sept. 24, at Hopewell High School. The event, supported by the Virginia Army National Guard’s Recruiting and Retention Battalion, will include JROTC contestants from area high schools alongside ROTC cadets from VSU who will serve as graders and mentors for their younger peers. The event, to be held in early November, requires contestants to run an obstacle course, engage targets with an air rifle, react to a notional medical event, complete a communications exercise and, finally, conduct a final physical challenge involving push-ups, a sled drag and a run.
