203rd RED HORSE Airmen depart Virginia Beach for federal mobilization

Virginia National Guard Airmen from the Virginia Beach-based 203rd RED HORSE Squadron say goodbye to friends and family members March 5 as they depart for Fort McCoy, Wisc., where they will undergo three weeks of Combat Skills Training training before departing overseas for a federal mobilization in support of operations in the Middle East. The unit is expected to be mobilized for six to eight months and should be back in the United States by the end of the year. RED HORSE stands for Rapid Engineer Deployable Heavy Operational Repair Squadron Engineers, and the unit provides a highly mobile civil engineering response force to support contingency operations worldwide.
