Va. Guard displays musical talents during Capitol Tree Lighting

The Virginia National Guard’s Clifton Forge-based 29th Division Band provides holiday music for the 2012 Capitol Tree Lighting and Tribute to Our Military Dec. 7, 2012, at the South Portico of the Virginia State Capitol. Governor Bob McDonnell and Mrs. McDonnell hosted the event. The entire band played for the tree lighting, then divided up into small groups to play inside the Executive Mansion and showcase the talent in the band during an Open House. In addition, Capt. Jarrod C. Blevins from 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team sang the national anthem, and Staff Sgt. Dawn Blair from the 29th Infantry Division Headquarters Legal Section sang "American the Beautiful." The Tribute to Our Military portion featured military personnel from past conflicts, and Staff Sgt. Robert L. Vaught from Joint Force Headquarters - Virginia represented the Global War on Terror.
