Soldiers from 1710th Trans. Co. conduct mobilization training
Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard's Emporia-based 1710th Transportation Company, 529th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group conduct mobilization training April 30, 2013, at Fort Hood, Texas. Soldiers from the 1710th mobilized for federal active April 1, 2013, and are scheduled to spend 45 to 60 days at Fort Hood to prepare for their yearlong federal mobilization to Afghanistan where they are scheduled to perform transportation support operations. Secretary of Public Safety Marla Graff Decker, Deputy Secretary of Public Safety Bryan Rhode, Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Command Sgt. Maj. Dennis Green, senior enlisted leader of the Virginia National Guard, visited with Soldiers and received an orientation to their training and equipment. The Soldiers of the 1710th have received praise from the mobilization trainers for their high levels of motivation and demonstrated proficiency on the many tasks that must be accomplished before the unit heads out to Afghanistan.
