1-111th Field Artillery Soldiers train with 2-224th Aviation Soldiers to slingload, transport M119A2 Howitzers across the battlefield

Virginia National Guard Soldiers from the Hampton-based 1st Battalion, 111th Field Artillery Regiment practice moving their M119A2 Howitzers across the battlefield with some assistance from Black Hawk helicopters from the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation regiment June 14, 2013, at Fort Pickett, Va. The Soldiers from Sandston-based Battery A and Norfolk-based Battery B prepped their guns for slingload operations and then watched as two Black Hawk helicopters picked them up and transported them around the training area. After the Howitzers were dropped back down, the Soldiers hustled to their guns, surveyed the battlefield and fired off three rounds each into the training area. The 300 Soldiers from the 1-111th are all part of the 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, which is at Fort Pickett for annual training June 8-22, 2013. (Photo by Sgt. 1st Class A.J.
