Va. Soldiers provide transportation support to Coast Guard, Navy
Soldiers from the Gate City-based 1032nd Transportation Company provide transportation support to United States Navy Sept. 14, 2013, at Norfolk Naval Air Station. Twenty four Soldiers in 12 vehicles carried six unserviceable target boats from Norfolk to Fort Pickett where they will have a second life as hard targets on Range 13. The Soldiers returned to Gate City Sept. 15 after traveling more than 10,800 total miles without accident or incident. In addition to providing a valuable service to their fellow services, the Soldiers gained valuable experience in mission planning and convoy operations as well as their time on the road behind the wheel.
