Virginia Defense Force conducts annual field training exercise - November 6-8, 2009

The Virginia Defense Force conducted its annual field training exercise Nov. 6 to 8 at Fort Pickett, and the exercise provided an opportunity for the all-volunteer organization to train on its ability to provide support to the citizens of the commonwealth via air, land and water. Members of the VDF’s three maneuver brigades focused on search and rescue training as well as sheltering operations, the aviation battalion trained on aerial reconnaissance and damage assessment operations and the VDF water-tested its Riverine boat for the first time.
