Battle drill training helps prepare Soldiers for duty in Iraq - May 13, 2011

Soldiers from the Norfolk-based Troop A, 2nd Squadron, 183rd Cavalry, 116th Brigade Combat Team conduct Warrior Battle Drill training May 13 at the Fort Picket Infantry Platoon Battle Course. Soldiers from the unit are conducting pre-mobilization training at Fort Picket in advance of their scheduled active duty mobilization for service in Iraq. Approximately 830 Virginia Army National Soldiers in units based in the Hampton Roads area, Fredericksburg and Christiansburg will begin federal active duty beginning June 1, 2011 with the mission of conducting convoy security and base defense operations in support of Operation New Dawn.
