TAG visits PRT SEC FOR Platoon at Camp Atterbury - June 17, 2011

Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, visited with Virginia National Guard Soldiers June 17 at Camp Atterbury, Ind. The Soldiers are part of the specially-trained Provincial Reconstruction Team Security Force Platoon and are scheduled to report to Afghanistan in late June after completing weeks of mobilization training at Camp Atterbury. The mission of the PRT SECFOR is to maintain security while the PRT is operating in potentially dangerous areas to rebuild infrastructure, assisting with agriculture, building wells, and providing healthcare to the people across the many provinces of Afghanistan. The PRT is a joint mission, manned by Soldiers, Sailors, Marines and Airmen from the active duty and reserve components of the U.S. military.
