Virginia Guard Soldiers hauling gravel to help repair roads in Vermont - Sept. 9, 2011

Soldiers from the Virginia Army National Guard's Fort Pickett-based 157th Engineer Platoon began running missions to haul gravel and fill to repair washed out sections of State Route 4 near Mendon, Vermont Aug. 9. Approximately 20 Virginia Soldiers with six 20-ton dump trucks are directly supporting the Vermont Agency of Transportation and are working in support of the 133rd Engineer Battalion from the Maine Army National Guard with the Vermont Guard's 86th Brigade Special Troops Battalion acting as higher headquarters. The mission could last up to 30 days.
