Senior leaders visit Fort Pickett - July 24, 2012

Senior military leaders along with senior state government officials visit Virginia Guard personnel July 24 at Fort Pickett. Marla Graff Decker, Virginia Secretary of Public Safety, Martin Kent, Chief of Staff for Governor McDonnell, Matt Conrad, Deputy Chief of Staff for Governor McDonnell, Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr. the Adjutant General of Virginia and Command Sgt. Maj. Dennis Green, Senior Enlisted Leader for the Virginia National Guard, met with Virginia Guard Soldiers supporting the Commonwealth Guardian exercise and learned more about how the Soldiers were supporting the exercise. They also met with Lt. Col. Bill Korsen, commander of Fort Pickett, to get an update on activities at the Maneuver Training Center, and they received a briefing from leaders from 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team on the unit's annual training activities.
