Engineers of the Fredricksburg-based Company A, 116th Brigade Special Troops Battalion, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team spent much of the brigade-wide annual training at Fort Pickett, Va., June 8-22, 2013, honing their demolition skills. The company deployed in 2011 as part of Operation New Dawn, but did not have engineer-specific tasks, so Soldiers are spent as much hands-on time as possible with with demolition. The Soldiers practiced with live charges the first week, then assisted infantry companies of 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team during their live-fire assault exercises by breaching obstacles and providing support by fire.
