Senator Reeves visit Camp Pendleton
Virginia State Senator Bryce Reeves, R–Spotsylvania, visits the Virginia National Guard's Camp Pendleton Collective Training Center with Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, Aug. 20, 2013, in Virginia Beach. During the visit, Reeves received an overview brief of the capabilities of Camp Pendleton as well as the Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support Group, toured some of the combat simulators available for units training on the post and met with cadets and leaders from the Commonwealth ChalleNGe program. Reeves and Long also visited a training conference for Virginia Army National Guard human resources professionals where Long promoted D'juana Goodwin to chief warrant officer 4. Reeves' final stop on the tour was a domestic operations exercise conducted by the Virginia Air National Guard's 192nd Intelligence Squadron, 192nd Fighter Wing focused on the squadron's ability to provide imagery support for a severe weather incident in Virginia. Camp Pendleton is a state-owned 328-acre installation that provides training facilities for National Guard units, as well as all other DOD active and reserve units and public safety organizations. The post features administrative buildings, conference facilities, barracks, classrooms, dining facilities, a live-fire qualification range and nine different virtual trainers as well as a chapel, fitness center, distance learning center, wooded training areas, helipad, land navigation course and military access beach and amphibious landing site.
