Ceremony recognizes contributions of past and present Veterans
Governor Bob McDonnell recognized currently serving and past Veterans for their service and thanked their families for their contributions at the the Commonwealth Veterans Day Ceremony Nov. 11, 2013, at the Virginia War Memorial in Richmond. Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr, the Adjutant General of Virginia, and Command Sgt. Maj. Dennis A. Green, senior enlisted leader for the Virginia National Guard, presented the Virginia National Guard memorial wreath to recognize the contributions of Virginia Guard Soldiers and Airmen, Soldiers from the Virginia National Guard Funeral Honors Program served as the honor guard for the ceremony and members of the Virginia Defense Force provided traffic control and parking assistance. Veterans Day has been observed at the War Memorial annually since 1956.
