3-116th Soldiers train at Fort Pickett Urban Assault Course
Soldiers of Company B, 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team participated in various exercises at the Fort Pickett Urban Assault Course on April 5, 2014. The Woodstock-based unit is currently preparing for the Exportable Combat Training Center rotation set to take place in June at Fort Pickett. “We are rehearsing the fundamentals of soldier training,” said Sgt. 1st Class Michael Hardgrove, platoon sergeant for 3rd Platoon. “Without knowing the basics, it all falls apart. Training like this keeps the Soldiers mentally engaged and reminds them that the real world is a 360-degree environment, so they have to be aware of their surroundings at all times.” Hardgrove’s platoon and the rest of the unit will be evaluated on section, squad and platoon-level skills at the XCTC exercise this summer.
