Regional Field Leadership Exercise held for officer candidates at Fort Pickett - May 3, 2014

More than 30 officer candidates from Virginia, Delaware, West Virginia, Maryland and Washington, D.C. participate in a Regional Field Leadership Exercise, or FLX, May 3, 2014, at Fort Pickett, Va. The event included cadre from National Guard Officer Candidate School’s around the region and aimed to prepare the candidates for the third and final phase of OCS, which they will attend in June. Candidates took turns operating in leadership roles leading a squad of their fellow OCs through various scenarios, sharpening their mission planning skills and working toward improving their warrior tasks. Officer candidates from the Virginia Defense Force were also on site observing and participating in the training.
