Aviators, mortarmen conduct mortar raid and live fire

Virginia National Guard Soldiers of the Winchester-based 3rd Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team conduct a mortar raid and live fire with support from flight crews assigned to the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment, June 12, 2017, at Fort A.P. Hill, Virginia. The Virginia Guard aviators first provided air transport to the mortarmen, scouts, snipers and infantrymen from Winchester to Fort A.P. Hill and then provided additional support, allowing the troops to air assault into their training area where they quickly set up and live fired their mortars.
