AG visits 2-224th, commends unit for exemplary readiness

Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Sandston-based 2nd Battalion, 224th Aviation Regiment and the Army Aviation Support Facility meet with Maj. Gen. Timothy P. Williams, the Adjutant General of Virginia, May 8, 2019, at the Army Aviation Support Facility in Sandston, Virginia. Williams visited the aviators to thank them for their efforts bringing the 2-224th from among the bottom 10 states in the nation in terms of aircraft readiness to the top 10 in less than six months. Before visiting the troops, Williams met with Col. William X. Taylor, the state Army aviation officer, and Maj. James Sheldon, commander of the 2-224th, who attributed the unit’s successes to empowering quality leadership at all levels and an increased focus on maintenance and readiness.
