Fort Pickett celebrates Earth Day

by Virginia Guard Public Affairs

Volunteers from multiple Fort Pickett agencies celebrate Earth Day by completing an environmental and beautification project at the post information center April 22, 2019, at Fort Pickett, Virginia. Together with a group of students and staff from Kenston Forest School in Blackstone, Virginia, the volunteers planted native flowering plants, which provide more pollinator habitat to the area. They also spread mulch around the new plants. The project was a collaborative effort between Fort Pickett Environmental, the Department of Public Works and Fort Pickett Morale, Welfare and Recreation. Representatives from Natural Resources, Integrated Training Area Management and Plans, Training and Security were also on hand to help complete the project.
