Red Dragons continue training in between COVID-19 missions - April 9, 2020
Virginia National Guard Soldiers assigned to the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team train with the Christiansburg Fire Department in between COVID-19 response missions April 9, 2020, in Christiansburg, Virginia. The Soldiers have been providing logistical support to the Montgomery County Public Health Task Force’s Mobile COVID-19 testing site in Blacksburg, Virginia since April 3, 2020, as well as providing planning support and PPE distribution in the region. In between response missions, the Soldiers have continued routine training with the help of local first responders, including Christiansburg firefighters and Roanoke Fire and Emergency Medical Services, getting lessons in first aid, knot tying, extractions and rescue operations.
