Command Sgt. Maj. Doug Wolfe takes responsibility as the command sergeant major of the Lynchburg-based 1st Battalion, 116th Infantry Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team from Command Sgt. Maj. Jon Whaley April 3, 2021, in Lynchburg, Virginia. Lt. Col. Jim Tierney, commander of 1st Battalion, presided over the ceremony that included an exchange of the noncommissioned officer sword that represented the change of responsibility of the battalion’s senior noncommissioned officer from Whaley to Wolfe. Whaley has been selected for the U.S. Army Sergeant Major Academy Fellowship Program and will spend two years as an instructor at the USASMA in Fort Bliss, Texas. Read more at go.usa.gov/xH8tf.
