1ROTC Raider Pentathlon runs at Hopewell High - Nov. 1, 2025

Junior ROTC cadets from five area high schools tackle the 1ROTC Raider Pentathlon Nov. 1, 2025 at Hopewell High School. The event, sponsored by the Virginia Army National Guard, brought together 20 two-person teams from Prince George High School, Smithfield High School, Caroline High School, Manchester High School and Hopewell High School. ROTC cadets from Virginia State University served as graders and mentors for the JROTC participants as they navigated their way through an obstacle course, engaged targets with an air rifle, reacted to a notional medical event, completed a communications exercise and conducted a physical challenge.
