Camp Pendleton

Camp Pendleton was originally purchased on the oceanfront in 1911 for the intent to be a permanent firing point for local National Guard units. Construction began, and completed, in 1912. The first unit to conduct marksmanship training at Camp Pendleton was in July, 1913. In the past 100 years, Camp Pendleton has continued to grow, transforming into a collective training center. Camp Pendleton provides training facilities for National Guard units, as well as all other DOD active and reserve units.
