Fort Pickett holds annual Earth Day celebration - April 22, 2010

For t Pickett held its annual Earth Day celebration, April 22, at building 317. The event featured many displays from sections and organizations associated with Fort Pickett. The Forestry Department, Southside Electrical Cooperative, Fort Pickett Fire and Rescue and Range Operations were some of the organizations that participated in the event. The Fort Pickett Navy SEAL Camp displayed a compressed earth block making machine, which uses a regular dirt mix to make blocks. The blocks are typically used in peacekeeping operations and are able to be stacked like bricks very inexpensively.
