Igou officially promoted to brigadier general

Col. Janice Igou, the Virginia National Guard director of interagency operations, is “pinned” by her son David during her promotion ceremony to brigadier general held Dec. 4, 2010 at Fort Lee. Her two children took part in the ceremony, but her husband Col. Damon Igou could only attend by phone because he is deployed as an Army Reservist to the Horn of Africa. As the director of interagency operations, Igou reports directly to the Adjutant General of Virginia and is the lead general officer for outreach to state and local leaders, organizations, communities, officials at National Guard Bureau, Secretary of Public Safety and Office of Commonwealth Preparedness in order to develops procedures, build programs, lead partnering and outreach programs to keep partners and key leaders informed and to ensure positive relationships.
