Senior public safety leaders briefed on capabilities of Virginia Guard's new light utility helicopter - May 10, 2011
Virginia National Guard aviators from the Army Aviation Support Facility in Sandston provide an information brief on the capabilities of the Virginia Guard's new light utility helicopter May 10 to senior leaders from the Virginia State Police, Virginia Department of Emergency Management and Henrico County Division of and also had the aircraft on display. The Sandston-based Detachment 1, Company A, 2nd Battalion (Security and Support), 151st Aviation Regiment fielded four UH72A Lakota helicopters in late 2010 to support the unit’s mission of aviation support to civil authorities, to include counterdrug aviation support to local, state and federal agencies. The aircraft is designed to conduct light general support tasks in non-combat environments such a search and rescue, personnel recovery, evacuation, counter-drug and limited civil command and control operations in the conduct of Homeland Security. Personnel from the Virginia National Guard's Counterdrug Program also set up an informational display.
