1-111th Field Artillery gives friends, family members chance to fire Howitzers-- Aug. 11, 2012

Virginia Guard Soldiers from the Hampton-based 1st Battalion, 111th Field Artillery Regiment, 116th Infantry Brigade Combat Team invited family members and friends to observe live fire operations Aug. 11 at Fort Pickett as part of their Family Day event. Family and friends first observed the two batteries as they fired their Howitzers and were then given the opportunity to get up close and personal with the weapons system and pull the lanyard to fire the Howitzers.
