Transportation Soldiers train on IED Defeat Lane at Fort Pickett - Aug. 14, 2012
Soldiers from the Martinsville-based 1173rd Transportation Company, 1030th Transportation Battalion, 329th Regional Support Group conduct conduct training on the Improved Explosive Device Defeat Lane Aug. 14 at Fort Pickett. The lane is designed to train Soldiers to recognize indicators for IEDs, how to react to an IED, direct and indirect fire and proper techniques for requesting medical evacuation. The lane was part of the company's two-week annual training period that included individual and crew served weapons qualification, NBC chamber, confidence course, closer quarters marksmanship, convoy live fire and a three-day field training exercise. Approximate 130 Soldiers from the company, including the detachment from Onancock, took part in the event.
