AGs meet with FORSCOM and 1st Army commanders - Sept. 28, 2012

Adjutants General from FEMA Region III meet Sept. 28 in Richmond, Va., with the commanders of U. S. Army Forces Command and 1st Army to share thoughts and insights on the capabilities of the Guard and the challenges faced by citizen Soldiers. Gen. David M. Rodriguez, FORSCOM commander, and Lt. Gen. Mick Bednarek, commander of 1st Army, discussed a number of topics related to maintaining readiness for both the active and reserves force of the Army with the AGs of Virginia, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and the commanding general of the D. C. Guard. Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, assessed the meeting as a positive discussion on manning and readiness, a great opportunity to exchange information and that the input from the AGs will help senior leaders pave the way ahead for the Army. Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell and Virginia Secretary of Public Safety Marla Graff Decker both spoke to the group to thank them for their service and the work they do to ensure the continued safety and security for the citizens of the United States.
