Senior Va. Guard leaders recognized for service - Oct. 24, 2012
Maj. Gen. Daniel E. Long, Jr., the Adjutant General of Virginia, presents the Legion of Merit to Col. Tim Williams Oct. 24 in Sandston for his service as the commander of the Virginia Beach-based 329th Regional Support Group. Williams commanded the 329th from August 2008 to April 2012 and was recognized for the 329th's success in state active duty mission as well as supporting short-notice federal mobilizations. Williams currently serves on the Virginia National Guard joint staff as the state resource officer.
Command Sgt. Maj. Dennis Green, the Virginia National Guard senior enlisted leader, presents the "Keeper of the Colors" statue Oct. 24 in Sandston to Command Sgt. Maj. Howard "Skip" Halfacre in honor of his upcoming retirement from the Virginia National Guard. Halfacre served nearly 36 years in the Virginia National Guard, most recently as the command sergeant major for the Fort Pickett-based 183rd Regiment, Regional Training Institute.
